If you are new to digital photography, this article will give you a couple of digital photography pointers that will help you to take better pictures with your digital camera.  One thing that is always a problem in digital photography is white balance.  All digital cameras have automatic white balance capability, but white balance is greatly affected by the type of lighting on the subject.  Many times the automatic white balance does not do a good job of matching the white balance to the lighting.  Most digital cameras have custom white balance settings for sunlight, incandescent and fluorescent lighting, but these settings are not always correct for a given picture-taking situation.

Digital Photography Basics


If you’re new to digital photography, there are a few basics that need to be learned.  Camera resolution is one of the first digital photography basics that comes to mind.  Resolution is given in megapixels (MP), and is an indication of how much detail the camera can capture.  Resolution affects the largest print size that you are able to make from an image – the higher the resolution the larger the print size you can make.  Typical resolutions for digital cameras are currently 8.0MP and up.  10.0MP resolution is fairly common, and some advanced point-and-shoot digital cameras and SLRs go as high as 14-25MP.
