There were still many manufacturers who were not aware of the advent of the digital cameras that they kept on producing film cameras. The question after the digital cameras caught up with the film types was what the manufacturers would do to the film cameras that they had produced. The film cameras which are 35 mm have no hope of being redeemed and converted into digital cameras. The conversion cost makes the process impossible to do. This is because the 35 mm was already way behind the other camera generations. Most of its parts are not usable already. The film camera to be converted should have a readily removable back part so as to accommodate an LCD for the digital camera’s preview.

Digital cameras are different than film cameras because the storage used is already a small memory card, shot images and videos can be reviewed through its LCD screen, record videos, and enable direct deletion of files to expand space. Editing of the files can be done using the camera itself. The current trend in the recently produced gadgets is the installment of this digital camera into the gadgets themselves, like mobile phones and PDAs.

There are a number of excellent sites on the Internet where you can read digital camera reviews.  One of the best is Digital Photography Review .  This site has reviews on many digital cameras, and also offers complete specifications most digital cameras that are currently available.  The reviews at Digital Photography Review are very complete, so be prepared some time reading a review on this site.  Some reviews run as long as 15-20 pages.  The site is organized into a convenient camera database that is organized by manufacturer, and includes a thumbnail image of each camera in the database with basic information about the camera.  Clicking on the image brings up the complete list of specifications.  If there is a review available, there is a link to it provided.
